Royaltouch Finnish Spitz
It seems that I was always surrounded by puppies from a very early age. My Mother and Father had Minature Poodles and we had several litters.
My favorite book was The Complete Dog Book, I studied it forward and backward. This is where I saw my first Finnish Spitz, I was about twelve years old!
Although the picture was in black and white and did not do the dog justice. The first FS we saw in person was Ch.Kulta Dekkari shown by Meg Callea and owned by Mary Guthrie.
We began showing and raising FS in 1987 when they first were recognized by AKC. We are on our seventh
generation of FS and have finished all owner handled,
eight champions.
2. First and foremost judges should keep in mind that this is a sporting dog. Many of the dogs being rewarded are soft and out of condition. The standard calls for a muscular, well moving, single tracking dog.
The dog should appear to float, and on the down and back there should be no legs flailing.
The next of course, the dog should be square, but to get that square you need long legs. The square should not be filled in. Then small triangle ears set on high,
pointed muzzle, and a correctly laying tail. Small tight cat like feet should be rewarded.

3. The AKC standard is pretty good, the only thing I would change is where it says stop -
pronounced. We believe this is a translation
mistake, the stop is not "really" pronounced.
It should say sloping gently, but clearly marked.
The FCI standard says "Not very pronounced".

4. I have not been to Finland, I have had the opportunity to live with a Finnish import for a year.
It's only been seventeen years since they were accepted to AKC, there is not a great deal of conformity in our breed yet. I believe our dogs are not so different from the Finnish Dogs.
I do believe through translation we were given
erroneous information on weight and size.
We have heard for years that our dogs were too big and too heavy. As it turns out the ideal dogs in Finland have very nice substance and bone.
5. My all time favorite dog would be "Prints"
Ch. Pikkinokka's Foxmont Blueprint. Bred byTil Niquidet, owned by Kelli Alseth. He was so well balanced, had nice substance square and beautiful tail. His head is beautiful with nice small triangle ears.
Of my own breeding would be Ch. Royaltouch's Finsie Belle. She is the opitomy of a feminine bitch, beautiful substance and bone. Small ears, feminine face, almond eyes. Easy moving on a loose leash, no flailing of legs.
I would like to also mention this dog, he has been my ideal when choosing puppies to keep. Ch.Jayenn's Foxa Thuma Joku
Canadian BISS 1994 He was tragically killed at a young age. I love his head, tail, balance and up rightness. He just looks as if he could move so beautifully.
