We started with Alaskan Malamutes in 1968 until 1992.
Picked up our first Finnish Spitz in 1987, which were bred
from Finnish Imports.
Currently a breeder and an owner handler. Showed our own
Finnish Spitz until recently because of a knee injury. We have used a handler over the last two years periodically when my knees give me problems.
Owner handled a Finnish Spitz to a BIS, and have had the number two Finnish Spitz 10 of the last 12 years with very limited showing.
1.When and where did you see your first FS? What attracted you to the breed?
We became interested in the breed before they were recognized by AKC. we were attracted by their size and great color and their friendly attitude.

2.What are the important breed characteristics to keep in mind for anyone wanting to become a good FS judge?
Learn the standard to the point that one could give a breed seminar. The standard is slightly different for AKC, Finnish and the CKC, so learn the difference.

3.Do you feel the current AKC standard is adequate? If not what changes would you like to see?
The AKC standard is quite clear, the illustrated is yet to be clarified.

4.How would you compare FS int he USA and Canada to the FS in Finland?
    No response

5.Please mention at least one FS not owned or bred by you
which you particulary admired, and one owned or bred by you.
I have admired all four of the breeds BIS Finnish Spitz.
They all had some great quality. Over all BISS Ch. Brown's Mikki bred by Tom Walker, owned by Tom Walker and Kim Raleigh impressed me the most, and BIS Ch.Tanssi Inua Midnight Phantom the one we owned.  Both BIS SBIS Ch.Finkkilia's Norski owned and bred by Tom walker and
BIS SBIS Ch.Pikkinokka's Foxmont Blue Print bred by
Til Niquidet and owned by Kelli Alseth were very impressive representatives of the breed, recogniton that they recieved was well deserving.
