Head: longer than broad in the ratio 7:4. Medium sizes, clean cut. Forehead slightly arched, stop prounounced. Muzzle narrow, seen from above and the side evenly tapering. Nose pitch black. Lips tightly closed. Scissor bite. |
Ears: small, cocked, shorply pointed,fine in texture and mobile |
Tail: plumed, curves vigorously from its root in an arch, forward, downward and backward with its tip extending to the middle part of the thigh |

Gait: light and springy, quick and graceful |
Eyes medium sized, lively, preferably dark. Almond shaped, with black rims, set slightly aslant |
Colour: clear and bright red-gold to chestnut. The shading in the coat and the undercoat should make the whole coat glow. |
Typical spitz double coat. Short, soft, dense cream undercoat. Outer coat coarse and longer on neck, shoulders, back of legs and tail than on the rest of body |
Neck: muscular, of medium length |
The characteristics of the Finnish Spitz are eagerness to hunt, courage tempered with caution, fidelity and intelligence. The whole appearance indicates liveliness. |
